DÉR. Bronchoscopie. Examen optique des bronches à l'aide du bronchoscope, introduit par la bouche ou par l'orifice d'une trachéotomie, pour diagnostiquer les obstructions bronchiques et les infections pulmonaires. Imaginée en Amérique par Killian en 1897, la bronchoscopie n'est véritablement entrée en pratique que vingt ans après (M. BARIÉTY, Ch. COURY, Hist. de la méd., 1963, p. 631). L'adj. correspondant est bronchoscopique, qui concerne la bronchoscopie [Catal. d'instruments de chir.
